Sentinels
I transform tools of violence into works of art. The
mask is integrated with the weapon to represent the anonymity of
the person who wields the sword. Enforcement and destruction overpower
the individual self as nationality, value system, and character
disappear within the act itself.
Edged weapons, wrapped textiles, and welded steel
are the materials I utilize to express the vast range of human thoughts
and behaviors.
My sculptures evolve into mythical spirits that protect
and empower rather than threaten or harm.
